Nigerian Army frontline troops in a chat with SECURITY AFFAIRS on Saturday morning 11 July 2020 over any “loss of interest” to fight the war against terrorism/banditry as reported by some sections of online news, said they are well motivated, happy and ready to fight, as against any loss of interest as claimed or reported.
The online report which claimed there was a crisis In the Nigerian Army as 356 Soldiers exit over “lost of interest” was discredited by some of the frontline troops SECURITY AFFAIRS secretly reached out to. One said “Our troop are happy and willing to fight. I have soldiers here with me…we fight day and night.” He further added that due to the high morale of his troop they slept in the bush yesterday waiting for the bandits. See whatsapp chat below:
It was also gathered that while the Army may have matters of voluntary retirment by some personnel just like any other establishment in the world it may not necessary be linked to issues of loss of any interest as claimed or reported. A Security Analyst reacting to the same report said the report is another work of mischief makers who are bent to discredit the Nigerian Military by all means due to political interest. He said the boys (troops) are really raining hell on bandits and criminals across the country but no one is talking about it rather they down play these successes due to their selfish interest. He emphasised that even the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai has continue to extend his stay in the Sahel region with his men to ensure sanity is enforced. He concluded by saying that those driving fake news and down playing the successes of the military over criminalities in the country are traitors of Nigeria.
In a similar success recorded by Nigerian Troops of operation whirl stroke notorious armed bandits in Arufu community of Taraba state were neutralised. Maj Gen John Enenche reported on Saturday afternoon that following actionable Human Intelligence on the infiltration of armed herdsmen on 10 July 2020 at Chambe community in Logo LGA of Benue State where 2 villagers were killed, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE from Tomatar and Gov/Afia swiftly deployed to the scene but the bandits have fled the area. Troops tracked the assailants to a makeshift camp at the outskirt of Arufu in neighbouring Taraba State. On sighting the troops, the armed bandits opened fire, troops overwhelmed the criminals with high intensity fire, killing 2 of them while others fled in disarray with gun shots wounds. In the process one AK 47 rifle as well as 10 rounds of 7.62mm Special were recovered. Additionally, the gallant troops have dominated the area conducting clearance patrol from Arufu to Akwana in order to rid the general area of any untoward activities.
Maj Gen Enenche said the High Command of the Armed Forces of Nigeria congratulates the gallant troops for their dexterity and encourages them to remain resolute in curtailing the activities of criminal elements in the North-Central Zone of the Country.
