The Osun state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has applauded the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Leiutenant General Tukur Buratai for engaging Social media influencers across the entire states of Nigeria in combating fake news and other crimes sabotaging the counter-terrorism drive on the internet.
Governor Oyetola gave the applause on Monday in Oshogbo during the Social Media influencers Seminar organised by the Nigerian Army’s Department of Civil Military Affairs. Social media influencers, bloggers, civil society organizations, Human rights Groups, online journalists and community leaders where all present at the seminar.
According to Governor Oyetola, ” it is a creative initiative by the Army Boss to combat fake news, malicious reportage that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s national security, which the Nigerian Army has a constitutional role to defend and protect….”
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans Lt Gen Lamidi Adeosun charged Social media influencers to take caution in their reportage and avoid fake news. He extended the Chief of Army Staff’s greetings to all the social media practitioners and CSOs present.
The Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Maj Gen HI Bature in his opening remark appreciated the social media practitioners and outlined the essence of the interactive session which initially started in Port Harcourt in 2018 and has continue to expand and pay off, and he hopes for more Cooperation with all social media influencers across the country as they continue to see the Nigerian Army as their Army.
The theme for the 10th edition Social Media Influencers Seminar is “Civil Military Relations: The Evolving Role of the Social Media in Support of the Nigerian Army’s Non-kinetic Line of Operations.” It was held in Osogbo Osun state.
The Social Media Influencers Seminar is organized by the Nigerian Army Department of Civil Military Affairs in Partnership with Security Affairs Ltd.
Present in the seminar was the Governor State of Osun Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, Lt Gen Lamidi Adeosun (COAS Rep Lt Gen Tukur Buratai), Maj Gen AZ Omozoje GOC 2 Division Ibadan, Maj Gen HI Bature, Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Brig Gen AA Adanogu, Commandant 2 Military Intelligence Brigade, Brig Gen AO Agboola Headquarters 2 Division, Brig Gen TO Olowomeye Director AHQ DCMA, Brig Gen EA Aladeniyi, Director Psychological Warfare AHQ DCMA and other Army Officers. Others present are the Olowo of Kuta Kingdom, HRM Oba Hammed Adekunle Makam Oyelude, Austin Peacemaker Executive Director Security Affairs Ltd, and other top political personalities in the State of Osun.
